There is this push for bloggers to “keep it real” although in some cases I truly believe that “keeping it real” really means rude, crass and unfiltered. I hope I don’t come across as such, but I have to keep it “real” with my opinion of Vogue’s September 2012 cover.
I can’t believe Vogue gave Lady Gaga an afro and then photoshopped (or so it looks from these angles) the rest of the photo to add more drama (ass, hips…CURVES) to the already dramatic mermaid dress.
I am not even going to get into the part about if this is the image they are trying to push, why not just use the real thing because maybe after all, some good can come from this. Since many women still require validation, now that the influential style icon and style bible has embraced both the afro and curves maybe this will finally give women “permission” to embrace, love and respect their natural hair and bodies. I just wish they would have taken this one step further and not make her look so gosh darn skinny.
Nice dress by the way!
