White Button Front Blouse and Vertical Stripe Pants

in Casual, What I Wore

I never understood why horizontal stripes were so popular last year.  Even back in my frump days I was aware that vertical, and NOT horizontal stripes, elongated the body and was therefore more flattering to wear.  Well, I am so glad that the fashion world is once again embracing the vertical stripe and here is my take on this trend.

Ann Taylor Shirt Express Pants

What I am Wearing:

This is what I wore to work on Tuesday. I guess you can say that I am feeling a nautical vibe this week as most everything has the same color scheme, blue and white.  I know the vertical stripes are supposed to elongate and therefore make you look taller and slimmer, but it didn’t create that illusion here partly because these are wide legs and not slim fitting pants and instead of heels, I  opted for these flat, silver sandals.

Top: White button down sleeveless blouse from Ann Taylor. I paid $29 for mine, but I also like this Jones of New York one which retails for $47.

Pants: Vertical stripe Express precision fit pants (thrifted). Similar: I really like this River Island Stripe Skinny Jean available at Asos for $38

Sandals: Chinese Laundry from Marshalls. The Malinda Sandal by Vince Camuto ($45) is very similar
