I don’t know why these sweaters get such a bad rap. I happen to like mine because the color is rich and vibrant and the pattern is not so busy that it would trigger an epilepsy attack. It’s far from that atrocity that Bill Cosby made famous and on top of that, this sweater came all the way from Peru.
By the way, I’ve checked every seam carefully for a Made in China label and I didn’t find any. This is the real thing and I am convinced that this was indeed hand knitted by natives, high in the Andes somewhere near Machu Picchu. This is one of the three authentic pieces that one of the attorneys that I worked for in the past gifted to me after a trip to his native Peru. As much as I like the sweater, however, this is the only time of the year that I can get away with wearing it. With Christmas right around the corner, it is after all “ugly” (not that I agree) sweater season.
STYLE TIP: Since these sweaters have such a bad rap, I tried to keep it chic by pairing it with a leather skirt and edgy knee high boots. Try not to pair yours with “Mom jeans” and for God’s sake, please do not wear it with a turtle neck. That’s just wrong!

Well now my fabulous friend, I must say, I’ve never seen an “ugly sweater” look so chic! I love how you’ve styled it up with some hot leather! Well done!

That’s hardly an ugly sweater, especially with that leather skirt! (A pairing of textures that I love.) You look great. : )

This post is so timely. The teens all want “tacky” sweaters so mine made me take her and her bestie to GoodWill to hunt for them last weekend. Score they did. But I liked all of them
You’ve styled your colorful sweater in a very sleek way – no ugly here, girl!
Why didn’t I think of using the word “tacky” when I was writing this? Lol! Actually, it seems that these “graphic” sweaters are very on trend this season *in my fashionista voice*. Not the multi-pattern ones, however, the animal print ones.
Not ugly at all Natasha! What a great gift! And I love how you made it more sophisticated with the cute hat and leather skirt!

Thanks Robin. I honestly think that the styling of the sweaters is what has given it some of the bad name.
