Hartford Dancehall celebrity Sasha was one of the young ladies that I coached for Hartford’s Miss West Indian Pageant a few years ago. Despite extraordinary adversity, including a heckler in the audience, she walked away from the pageant, with the scholarship prize, crown and the title of Miss West Indian.
In addition to the studios, humble Sasha that I know (*wink*), she now has an alter ego and uses a social media moniker which she calls “Conceited Sasha”. Guided by her fashionista sister “Marsha Upsetter,” Conceited Sasha has become a dancehall celebrity here in Connecticut. Like a lot of 20-somethings, she shares her style and outfits via Facebook. This peach nerd sweatshirt and skater skirt geek chic outfit is my favorite by far.
Can Women 40 and older wear?
Skater skirts and 6-inch platform shoes might not be the most ideal or practical for us 4o-something women though. Personally, my torso is too short for skater skirts (they look really weird on me) and my ankles way too weak for shoes that high. It doesn’t mean that we can’t find inspiration from this style, however. Let’s take one last look at this “cute” outfit before I show you a “sophisticated” version for the 40-something woman.
How women 40 and older can recreate Hartford Dancehall Celebrity Conceited Sasha’s Geek Chic outfit
Here is how an older woman can recreate this layered style. First and foremost, switch out the skater skirt for a skirt that hits you at the, or right below the knees. In lieu of a sweatshirt, try a peach cable-knit sweater. I would do a blue bib necklace vs the bow tie. Personally, I hate wearing glasses indoors (yes, I wear glasses) but you will rarely ever see me outside without my sunnies especially on sunny days (the glare from the sun equals instant headache for me). Also, these shoes are still a little high, but the heels look more sturdy for those of us who are weak in the ankles. Finally, a hobo bag with metallic accent completes this look.
