My Kia, My Summer: Events in Connecticut

You know what’s the best way to get around to events in Connecticut? Drive a Kia! Ok, I don’t own a Kia, not yet anyways. But with rust spots quickly covering my beloved 11-year-old car, I’ve been looking at options. The Kia is Daddy and step-father approved (yep, their opinion is gold to me when it comes to cars) and caught my eye because of its style, price, base features and unheard of  10 yr/100,000 mile warranty.

Meet the Kia Sorrento, the mid priced crossover vehicle that has a high priced look!

My Kia, My Summer: Events in Connecticut

This gently used one belongs to a friend of my photographer/cousin, Ossie.  I think my summer would have been so much easier and not to mention comfortable if I had one of these babies as my ride.

I loved the roomy interior, and trunk which is big enough to fit lots of beach and tailgating gear, big furry pets, luggage, and a fashion blogger or two.

The new models come with bluetooth, mp3 players and I also loved that all of the controls were within easy reach on the steering wheel. My current car doesn’t have any of that. )-:

The ride was smooth, it handles well and wasn’t a difficult transition for me, a compact car driver. I think this is a great option for anyone looking for a great crossover vehicle.

Summer is not over yet, by the way.  There is still time to take advantage of her warmth and long days in order to have your best summer, yet.  Here is a list of upcoming events around the state.

  1. I like the warranty on the car…now if I could just convince my husband!

    • Ha!!! That warranty is a big factor for me! *says the person who has experienced timing belt, transmission and water pump failure in cars that they owned*

  2. Great entertainment listings — it’s amazing how much fun stuff there is to do for free!

    • Yes, there really is. I think part of the problem here in Connecticut is that events are marketed to specific demographics/area only. There is no central place where people can post events and subsequently discover new things. And no, the VisitCT site doesn’t list general events either. I am not even sure what their criteria is for the events that actually make it on that site. For example, we have three major cultural events here in Hartford, one of them a week long event and none of them received any support whatsoever from the Connnecticut Tourism board, although a few of them have the potential of being a major attraction for the state. )-:

  3. cute car! I am going to be in the market soon also. My baby is 10 years old, and I need more room and storage, and better options ( like cruise control!) I will have to check out Kia!

    • It’s a really great option Jenny and it is really roomy. I didn’t include the pictures when the owner was unloading her family and all the stuff that they had in the trunk. They were on their way to a festival here in Hartford and they had coolers, blankets and all kinds of things in there.

  4. I’m not in the market for a new car but I know that my sister loves her Kia! I dig the picture of your arm with all the bracelets, good way to show off your bling AND the car. 😛

    • Thanks Jen! My challenge here was to combine both the info regarding the Kia and making it into a style post. (-: I really liked that Sorrento and that was an older model.

  5. Kia’s have really come a long way since they first came out on the market. I know many people have have done reviews on the Kia and they highlight some great features. The Kia looks good on you as does that leather peplum top!

  6. I wish I lived closer to Hartford- some of these events sound really interesting! And I’ll be in the market for a car soon so will definitely consider a Kia!

    • I repeat 1 years, 100,000 miles. That is a MAJOR offering for a warranty for a car. The Souls are really cute as well, but I am definitely considering the crossover.

  7. I agree, SUMMER’S NOT OVER YET! Look at that list of things we can do! I’m going to see if we can do at least one of the things on the list of events planned in central CT!

  8. I have friends who love their Kia, I’m sure you will too!

I have to admit this summer flew by and I didn’t get to cross off half the things I wanted to. You have some great events listed, hope I get to at least one of them.

    • Actually, I was pleasantly surprised with all the gadgets that were available with the base price. The Souls are also an option that I am considering.
