Fake Bake Self-Tan Liquid and Mitt Giveaway

Despite our very loud protests, mother nature just doesn’t seem to want to give old man winter the boot this year.   I imagine that this year’s eternal winter must be getting in the way and delaying the efforts of my sista’s who love their  tans.  Well since Summer seems so far away, I am giving away this Fake Bake self-tanning kit to one lucky winner.

I received the celebrity favorite at an industry event that I attended a few weeks ago in New York City. I think my tan is holding up quite nicely even with the frigid temps so I am going to share.

Fake Bake gives an instant sun-kissed color and develops into a long lasting sunless fake tan by combining naturally derived tanning agents DHA and Erythulose.  This guarantees longer lasting (up to 50% longer), more natural-looking results. The product does not have parabens and artificial preservatives and has added benefits include: anti-ageing, anti-cellulite and anti-oxidants.

Of 1,146 reviewers, Amazon shoppers rated this product 4.75 stars out of 5. Here is what two users had to say about the product:

“I love this self tanner. Its very easy to use and does not give a gross orange look that most self tanners do. This tanner gives a very natural tan that looks great on all skin tones.  (Source: Amazon.com Chelise H)”

1. It smells nice in the bottle. Sort of floral/tropical.
2. It has NO fake tan smell on your skin. I was expecting it and was ok with it if I tanned well, but I am both tan and NOT SMELLY!
3. The color guide really does help you see where it went, and also looks passable as a tan until your tan develops.
4. It dries quickly after you apply it so you don’t have to stand around nekkid forever.
5. My tan looks nice. I went to bed, woke up and rinsed off my legs in the shower and that was it. So easy!” (Source: Amazon.com KitsuneA)

  1. I once used a self tanner and forgot to wash my hands. Needless to say, my hands were bright orange for a week. I am thankful for the mitt in this giveaway!

  2. Worst moment was slipping and falling on my butt in an icy parking lot in front of my coworkers.

    • O_o, hopefully you didn’t break anything other than your pride. We lost a few people in our building due to broken ankles after they slipped on ice. Thanks for sharing your winter 2014 story with us. Oh yeah, snow is predicted in my parts tomorrow (April 16th…) so I am still in the midst of winter. (-:

  3. Jara Christensen

My worst tanning story was when I burned laying in the bed so bad that all of my skin was peeling on my body! 🙁

    • I am beyond shocked at how many people have burned themselves on these tanning beds. Hopefully there weren’t any scarring. I used to belong to a local gym that had a few room of these things and I just assumed they were safe. Thanks for sharing your story with us.

  4. Kelly Commerford

I applied self-tanner without the aid of natural lighting…stepped into the sunlight looking like a giraffe!

    • Bwahahaha… Sorry, I know I am not supposed to laugh but I just had a vision. Hopefully you were able to fix it before you stepped outside of your house. Thanks for sharing your story with us Kelly. (-:

  5. I have had a spray tan once.. everyone at this tanning salon told me how beautiful it would look. Well, I looked like a oompa loompa- and it was the furthest thing from beautiful! True story!

    • Hi Starla B. I had to actually google “ooompa loompa”. Oh my Gosh, ummm, yeah that’s a bit extreme. Well, thanks for sharing your story with us.

  6. i went in a tanning bed for to long i was burnt!! so bad!

    • Whoa, another burnt by the tanning bed story. I don’t know if this a sunburn type burn or like grill, oven type burn. The one time that i got a sunburn was after spending the day at the New York State fair when I was in college. I’m not sure why the sun attacked my forehead with such viciousness but thank God there was Aloe. Thanks for sharing your story Stephanie. (-:

My worst tanning nightmare is burning my lips and they were in pain and extremely chapped for about a week.

  8. Kim Pincombe Cole

The entire ‘Winter 2014’ has been a nightmare for us in Indy. On Jan 5th, we received 14″ of snow in 8 hours – which effectively shut down the schools & city for a week. And it just kept snowing after that. Just saw a forecast for more snow next week – really?!!
And I even have a tanning nightmare story from this winter (actually just happened!) – was down in Knoxville, TN over the weekend and was basking in the glorious 60 degree weather & sunshine outside. Made sure to load up on sunscreen on my ghostly white winter skin. But, forgot that I had ripped knee boyfriend jeans on. Yup, I fried my knees (that were exposed thru the rips). It hurts to bend my legs, because my knees are so badly burned. It wouldn’t be so painful if I could wear shorts right now as the burn heals, but it’s 40 degrees back here in Indy. Too bad I can’t walk around pantless, lol!

    • Hey Kim. Now you know winter was really bad when we think 60 degree weather is nice. Ha ha! The one time I got sun burned I used Aloe gel and it soothed it. Speaking of snow… its in our forecast here in the northeast for tomorrow morning. Sigh! Thanks for sharing your story though.

  9. I tried to get a base tan before my trip to Hawaii for a wedding at a salon in a lie down bed. My first time ever at a tanning salon and I stayed in for 8 minutes. I burned my behind so bad that it was painful to sit for a week. True story.

    • Wow… I used to be a member of Cardio Express (they are here in our state) and I remember that they kept adding tanning beds for people to use. I assumed they were safe. I mean if it’s supposed to be an alternative way to tan I would think one of the things that people would avoid is a sunburn. SMDH! Well, thanks for entering and for sharing your story with us.
