Disclosure: I received in-kind service in consideration for this post regarding Red Door Spa’s new winter treatments. The opinions expressed within are my own.
This past Sunday I was invited to experience one of the Red Door Spas new winter treatments and opted for the Orange Pomegranate Revitalizing Body Treatment at their Groton, Connecticut location.
The orange pomegranate body treatment is one of the seasonal offerings at the spa and one of their most popular. According to the description on the website:
ORANGE POMEGRANATE REVITALIZING BODY TREATMENT – $135 (seasonal)
Premium sugar crystals gently exfoliate skin with invigorating orange and pomegranate to nourish and soothe. Naturally derived from pure fruit extracts, vitamins and antioxidants stimulate collagen production and improve skin immunity to protect from environmental stressors and restore skins radiant glow.”
Before I give my review on the treatment, however, allow me to share my total experience.
I absolutely love spas! I always feel like a queen for the hour or so during my service and my experience was so phenomenal at the Red Door Spa that I am looking forward to my next visit. By the way, this was my first 4-star spa experience so I was really excited. When you enter the spa, you are greeted by exceptionally friendly and helpful front desk staff members. After they checked me in, they showed me to the locker room where I undressed and slipped into one of their thick, beige, cotton plush robes and rubber slippers. I went over to the co-ed relaxation room that offered coffee, fruit and lemon infused water where I completed a short questionnaire about the general state of my health and my concerns. My technician Zayda came in, introduced herself and took me through the candle lit hallways to the treatment room.
She gave me a brief overview of what to expect for the treatment and stepped outside to give me some privacy. After she left the room, I removed my robe, opted for the disposable underwear that was provided and crawled under the sheets on the massage table. When she returned, Zayda turned down the lights leaving the room illuminated by a single candle. She followed the same standard steps for a massage, starting with my back first. The scrub was mixed with oil and the warmth of it felt great on my exposed back.
As she moved her hands, I felt a momentary wave of embarrassment as I imagined the layers of dead skin that were sloughing off under her hands. As if she was reading my mind, she suggested that I exfoliate at home at least once a week and to consider returning in 2 months for a second treatment. She moved on to the back of the legs and then down to my feet, before flipping me over to get the front of my legs, decollete and belly.
Although she did my heels, she was very careful not to get the scrub on the bottom of my feet. I needed the traction for the second step, the shower, which was in an adjoining room. The shower was spacious and the walls here tiled from floor to ceiling in the same beige tone as my robe. I stayed under the shower and allowed the water to rinse away the sugar and oil, dried myself and returned to my treatment room.
Zayda layed out fresh sheets on the massage table for the next part of our session. She spritzed me with their Olive Oil Moisturizing Body Spray and ended our session with a light massage. She used the right pressure and she hit all the right points. It was the best but shortest spa hour experience, ever. And the result, my skin felt smooth and looked healthy, not dried, cracked and scaly like it did the night before.
After I dressed, I stopped in their onsite retail store and picked up a tube of their Olive Oil and & Mint Cooling Gel ($32). I loved the way it felt on my feet after Zayda applied it during the treatment and it was definitely another product that I wanted to own from the Elizabeth Arden line. I also have the Eight Hour Cream Protectant ($21) (my Holy Grail product) and Ultra Healing Body Balm (which I use on my feet before I go to bed at nights).
They are also offering an orange pomegranate manicure & pedicure treatment. The Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa is located inside the Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa located at 625 North Road in Groton, Connecticut. For more about the Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spas, visit reddoorspas.com.
