I am finally ready to write my review of InstaNatural’s Hyaluronic Acid Serum. I took my time writing this one. I had to! Results are not always instant and this is one of those times that I needed to give it more time so that it wasn’t competing with other products that I was testing.
Hyaluronic acid is the latest buzz worthy “it” beauty product for the aging crowd but it is not an acid at all. The ingredients don’t strip or peel off layers of dead skin cells like other acids. As a matter of fact, from what I’ve gathered, it’s a humectant that is a naturally occurring polysaccharide in the human body that we are born with. This is what gives babies their plump and smooth skin, however, it diminishes over time and disappears at an even faster rate once we hit our 40’s.
Hyaluronic acid is also a popular and effective injectable, derma filler. The topical use of the product is relatively new and and it has become a popular ingredient in: serums, moisturizers and other cosmetic products. As a topical agent the product is believed to:
– Improve skin texture and brightness with intense moisture and balance
– Reduces appearances of dark circles & puffiness
– Diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
– Provides instant hydration for smoother, softer skin
– Helps to achieve an overall vibrant, healthy complexion
This is really great for people like me with oily, acne prone skin. I was also drawn to this product because it’s vegan and has a blend of antioxidants which includes: Vitamin C + E + Green Tea. It also includes jojoba oil which I absolutely love to use on my skin. Hyaluronic Acid is said to be a great natural hydrator for the skin by helping the skin to retain moisture that is 1,000 times its weight in water.
I read that the molecules (generally) for hyaluronic acid are quite big and may not actually be able to pass through the epidermal layer to plump fine lines and wrinkles. I don’t know how or if this applies to this specific product. I also read that it is not the best product to use in low humidity regions because instead of moisturizing the skin it does the complete opposite. So in other words, if you live in Alaska or any other dry region, this might not be the best product for you.
There was no immediate results after first using the serum. I finally saw results from it this week and this is after applying it to damp skin and over the Vitamin C toner that was also sent to me by InstaNatural. By the way, I fully endorse that toner! I will definitely be repurchasing that one after my sample is finished. I have been using Benzoyl Peroxide based product to aggressively treat a recent hormonal breakout which left my cheeks dry and scaly. Not even my best primer was helping me to lay the skin down. I found, that my skin behaved and actually looked normal and healthy immediately after applying the serum, however. Usually in cases like this, I use a heavy moisturizer which does not work with my oily skin and leaves me looking and feeling greasy. It also seems to work best when applied under a regular moisturizer. Using it with my mattifying moisturizer left my face tight and uncomfortable. I think this is a product that I will keep on my shelf to use after aggressively treating acne. Beyond that I don’t think that this is a product that I would use on a daily basis.
